God bless us, everyone!

10/18/08 Sunday 11:30 pm

The laundry is done. I watched NCIS and the last two episodes of Numbers over the weekend.

After a couple of cloudy days and some rain, there is sunshine again. The cooler temperatures feel nice, as opposed to the hotter weather we had last month.

It’s nice to see the price of gas below $3 again. Thankfully, I have to drive only 5 minutes to get to work. It’s been nice for the past year to work so close to home. I’m hoping to start working from home in January. My mom lives with me but I’m concerned about leaving her all day. I’m waiting for the approval from my manager, once the budget is set for next year.

I watched SNL last night. Aside from Watching Sarah Palin in the opening skit, it reminded me of why I don’t watch the show. What was funny about the skit of a man asking his girlfriend to marry him? The show doesn’t appeal to me.

I like to watch/read mysteries, sci-fi, news programs, and, of course, music shows. I saw a preview of a new show that starts on Nov. 1. It’s called Legend of the Seeker, based on books by Terry Goodkind. It looks interesting.

God bless us, everyone!

Do I need a title?

Just finished watching the presidential debate. Whoever wins ... may God be on his side!

It's been a busy, rainy day. I work in a group that converts new banks onto our product. I enjoy it. Anything that makes me think, learn and tax my brain has my vote. Small joke. Ok, ok, I like small punny jokes. Get that from my dad.

I decided to start up my journal again. Nothing fancy. Never was one to keep a diary. Just want to motivate myself to write. What do I write? Poetry. I don't write flowery words on a canvas. It’s not my style. I’m a direct person. I say what I mean and mean what I say.

This is my first step … a baby step maybe … but at least I’m doing it. My choice to put this in a public forum, although no one may wind up reading it, is to help me face my fear of exposing my inner self to the world. Deep breath, hit the “Add Entry” button, I’m on my way.

Can't believe it's been so long since I last wrote in my journal. So much has been going on. Mom sold her house. My job is only good until next summer, as long as they don't change their minds and move the date. Our group is growing smaller and smaller as our customers move over to other products within our company. It doesn't bother me too much right now. I know I'll survive.
Went to NJ in August for my niece's wedding. Wasn't sure about mom on a plane but she did okay. My niece was radiant as a bride should be.
Since mom sold her house, we don't have to travel out there all the time. It's easier on me. We still have half a garage full of boxes, as well as a storage unit. I want to empty the garage before yearend and move the stuff from the storage unit into the garage. Don't need to be spending all that extra money for storage with my job in question for next year.
It's autumn. Time for cooler weather, colorful trees ... well ... maybe up north. This part of Texas is still warm and, with the drought we're in, the leaves on the trees will only shrivel up and die. I enjoy looking at pictures of autumn scenery even if it's somewhere else.
Time to move on.

Happy Easter

on April 15, 2006 - 11:48pm

It's been a while since I posted in the Sanctuary or wrote in my journal. Life has been ... well ... life. Too many things to do and I hadn't felt like writing in a while. Maybe now I'll start again.

Mom is selling her house. Our next-door neighbors are buying it. They want a house with an extra room so her mother can live with them. It's all happening so fast but that's a good thing. The house has been unoccupied since last August. A couple of times someone may have been checking out the place. Today I found out that someone had shut off our heat pump and removed the freon. It was either kids trying to get a high or someone wanting the expensive freon for free. That's what my brother-in-law said. Either way, that's not a good thing. The sooner we sell the house and they move in the better. They have to wait until they sign the papers for selling their house to get the money to pay mom. It'll be either just before month end of May 1. I'll breathe a sign of relief when it's done.

Mom was in the hospital twice since early March. A third time she went to the emergency room because she was ill and became dehydrated. I have to keep a closer eye on her because the doctor reduced her Lasix and she is prone to congestive heart failure. It was reduced because her kidneys are functioning as well as they should. It's walking a fine line between making sure she has enough Lasix without giving her any more than is absolutely necessary. She's doing okay though.

I wrote more than I thought I would, considering how late it is and the fact that I'd been on the go since early Saturday morning. Once I take a shower, I'll be able to relax more and go to sleep.

It's after midnight. Happy Easter. God Bless.

Paid my bills

on December 19, 2005 - 10:53pm

It's been a while since I posted either here or in the Sanctuary. It's been hectic since Dad died but things are calming down. Mom is realizing that she's not about to die tomorrow and she's getting used to living here with me. My sister comes over every weekday and makes sure mom eats. She also takes mom out to do things. Meanwhile, I get the nighttime and weekend to take care of mom.

The rest of my stuff from the storage unit near where I used to live is in a storage unit near where I live now. I'll have to go through the stuff and see what I'll keep. The rest I'll give away ... or maybe EBay. My brother got me to register for EBay but I haven't used it yet. Anyway, what I do keep will go above the garage, in the bedroom closet or in the extract closet by the laundry room.

We've finished decorating the Christmas tree. It's mom's favorite time of the year. She would have been happier if this had all been down before Thanksgiving but I didn't have the time.

I just finished paying my bills. We're slowly headed toward the paperless society envisioned back in the 80's. It'll take a while yet because of the people who don't use computers to pay their bills. I haven't yet stopped my paper statements but I do pay my bills online.

My turkey cat clawed me last night. He's irritated that I didn't give him some special food. By this I mean, some chicken or turnkey. He gets his regular food but I do give him some poultry whenever I have some in the house. There hasn't been any for a few days. Actually, I called him something else last night ... not the turkey nickname I have for him. I said, "You little s---!!" He hit a vein this time and the blood started gushing out. Some of it was stuck under my skin but it’s flattened out now. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like it’s infected.

Christmas is less than a week away. As Tiny Tim said, “God bless us, everyone.”
