POTO & birthdays

on March 22, 2007 - 2:17pm

I love the music from ‘Phantom of the Opera’ but I think that I prefer the movie soundtrack out of all the ones I have heard. Right now I am listening to the original Broadway recording and I’m not sure I like it. It is not what I am used to. Did you know that it is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s birthday today? It is also Stephen Sondheim’s birthday. It is so cool that two of the greatest Broadway composer’s share a birth date.

JOSH IN SALT LAKE CITY!!!

on March 21, 2007 - 6:47am

Josh is coming to Salt Lake City!!! Yeah! When I logged onto FOJG this morning the news said that there were more tour dates so I went and looked. And he is coming!! Forget Vegas now I am going to a concert for sure. Now that I have a good job I can save my pennies and go see him in August. I can’t wait until August 28, 2007. It is going to be the greatest day ever. I love it here. When I lived in Colorado I never got the chance to be this close to so many great shows. But something that is wrong on the website…it is no longer called the Delta Center. Energy Solutions has the rights to it now so it is called the Energy Solutions Arena. It took me a while to get used to calling it that. I have to tell someone about this. I am going to save all money so that I can get tickets and stuff at the concert. Josh Groban is going to be in Salt Lake!! I am still on cloud nine. I don’t think I’ll ever come down all week. I am so happy! Yeah, Josh! Thank you, thank you! You are the greatest!

Work, school, & ‘Lost in Yonkers’

on March 20, 2007 - 6:53am

I had my first day of full work since August yesterday. The work itself wasn’t hard but after going to school all morning and then going to work until 6pm and then going to see a play which ended at 10pm … it was a long day. But I’m making good money and it is something to do with my time. I don’t even know how to tell you what I do since I don’t exactly know yet. I can tell that it is just mundane office work. But they want to be able to get me full-time work in the summer and sort of run the finances. I think this job will give me a lot of good experience.

I almost had a breakdown when I was driving home. But I remembered to breathe. I was thinking about when I would have time to do my homework for school. Especially this week because I have to start on my research paper for Marketing, but I think I have time today to do it. It doesn’t help that I don’t know what the assignment is. I’ll ask someone.

The play that my family saw last night was really good. We saw ‘Lost in Yonkers’ by Neil Simon. I thought it was supposed to be funny but it was more of a serious comedy. It was still really good. It was about these two boys and their family. It was good to see it, but I don’t think I will see it again.

This morning I was so tired I could barely roll out of bed this morning. Hopefully I will get a routine down and things will be better next week.

Employment

on March 19, 2007 - 6:25am

I got a job this weekend. After all my complaining I now have a good job. I am going to work part-time while I finish up the semester but then come summer I can work full-time. I am really happy about it. When I told my dad he was really happy for me because then I can pay him back and have money for fall semester. That’s all he thinks about is getting out of debt. There are more things to life then just money. Chad also got a job this weekend. He is going to be an assistant manager at Radio Shack. I thought that was kind of weird that he would get that job. I thought you had to work your way up to a managing position. But he was hired at Coldstone as a manager and I guess since he has worked as a manager he has the experience that they need.

FOJG, ‘Les Misérables’, & ‘Jekyll & Hyde’

on March 14, 2007 - 11:59am

I got my FOJG package yesterday! I wasn’t expecting it because everyone else has been having problems receiving theirs. I got mine in a little over eight weeks. I was so excited. I’m still excited. I like the box, but I don’t know what to put in it. Oh well, I figure something out.

Also, yesterday I listened to ‘Les Misérables’ from the original 1986 London cast. I have always liked the music from it. My parents saw it in London a long time ago and they brought back the soundtrack. Anyways, my family is going to see ‘Les Misérables’ in June when the Pioneer Theatre Company puts it on. The funny thing is it was in such popular demand that they extended the dates out another week. It is now running from April 27 through June 16. My dad works for the University of Utah so he got us tickets on my birthday…June 7th. I am really excited. I decided to listen to the original 1991 Broadway recording to see what the difference is. Dad says there is a difference. I hope there is not a big difference because I really like the London recording.

Speaking of musicals…I am listening to ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ right now and I recognize a lot of the songs. I even recognize some of the voices. Ok…I looked it up and I am listening to the 1997 Broadway cast. Robert Cuccioli is Jekyll/Hyde, Christiane Noll is Emma, and Linda Eder (whom I recognize the most) is Lucy. No one probably cares about any of this but it is interesting to me. The more I listen to the more songs I recognize. Pretty much all of them I have heard before but didn’t know were from this musical. For example I hear ‘Someone Like You’ on the radio all the time. I even here the Linda Eder recording but I never thought that it was from ‘Jekyll & Hyde’. That is awesome!
