Soon to be...

on October 23, 2008 - 10:14pm

hopefully and HR Administrative Assistant.

Whew. So I have to make it through another weekend of waiting on the edge of my seat. I think my interview on Tuesday went well. The people I met with seemed really receptive to the answers I gave where I said something I could tell they were waiting to hear. I sent thank-you letters in the mail and hopefully they got those alright and I let them know my former manager where I was an HR intern would be glad to speak with them over the phone for a reference. She sent me an email today saying she had called and left a message and then another one detailing why she'd reccommend me. And of course in the interview I was told they'd probably make a decision by this Friday and I just checked on the voice mail of one of the persons I met with that she's out of the office tomorrow and back on Monday so I'm figuring I probably won't hear back until then but I'm not as afraid this time that I won't get it. If I don't, then I probably will be really crushed and have to fess up to the fam that my internship is over and get back to feeling like an unemployed loser. :) I'm not there yet because I have hope that I'll get this job. I would just ask for those of you who prayer to continue to keep me in your thoughts and ask God for me to get this if it is right for me. I really did my best to prepare for the interview and I asked Him to keep me calm and get rid of any nerves before it and I think it really helped me and my prep work too.

Guns N’ Roses Bring A Free Dr Pepper To All Americans: Here’s How To Get Yours!

Published by Chris Harris on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 6:00 pm.

Now that the November 23 release date for Guns N’ Roses’ oft-delayed, more-than-a-decade-in-the-making album, Chinese Democracy, seems to be a reality, Dr Pepper owes every American a can of soda.

Back in March, the beverage company said that it would give every man, woman, and a child in the U.S. a free can of Dr. Pepper should Guns N’ Roses release Chinese Democracy before the close of 2008. And now, the event no one — certainly not the folks at Dr Pepper — thought would happen is rapidly approaching.

“We never thought this day would come,” Tony Jacobs, vice president of marketing for Dr Pepper, said in a statement issued Wednesday. “But now that it’s here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper’s on us.”

So, how does Dr Pepper plan on dispensing the free sodas? Well, on November 23 — and only on November 23 — thirsty Americans can log on to the official Dr Pepper Web site and register all of their vitals, so that the company can mail them a coupon for a free 20-ounce can of the drink. Once that coupon arrives in the mail, redeem it wherever Dr Pepper is sold. The last step in the process, according to the press release: “Drink your Dr Pepper slowly to experience all 23 flavors. Dr’s orders.”

As we said, registration for the free Dr Pepper coupons is available only for 24 hours, beginning at 12:01 a.m. ET on November 23, and the coupons will have an expiration date of February 28, 2009. Obviously, there is a coupon limit — one per person.

So get out your straws and chill those glasses, kids — the Dr will be in your fridge soon, all thanks to Mr. Axl Rose.

When one door closes...

on October 19, 2008 - 11:27pm

I spent the weekend preparing myself for my interview on Tuesday. I'm so glad that they asked me back to interview for another position- still in HR which is what I'm looking to pursue. I prepared my answers to some of the questions I was asked when I was interviewing with this company a couple of weeks ago as well as some of your standard questions. I've just kind of been memorizing it so that I know when the question is brought up I have points ready to make versus struggling to think of something on the spot even if I am qualified for the job. I think I'm going to review it one more time for the evening and go to bed. At the moment, I haven't told anyone except a friend of mine that I'm done with my HR internship. I'm hoping that I get this full time HR job first and then I'll tell people. I want to ask when they expect the position to start because I am available at their convenience but I would love to take a trip back to LA first- spend 5 days in CA to visit family and friends I haven't seen since last Christmas so I'd love to start like a week after if I'm offered the position. I'm really praying that this is what I'm meant to do because I didn't get the job I originally applied for but God is giving me this second opportunity by them asking me to come in again. I'm making sure I do everything I can to be prepared. Please keep me in your thoughts and pray that I will go in there Tuesday, calm and prepared and that they will be able to see that I am the person they've been looking for.
