Hurricane Ike and more...

on September 18, 2008 - 6:36pm

Hey guys, some of you may have noticed that I was missing for a few days. That's because my parents came and got me before the hurricane hit Texas. In fact, if you heard from me in that period of time it's because I was using someone else's computer. Anyway, it did hit Galveston and completely disrupted Houston. The last I heard they didn't even have electricity. And College Station only being about 90 minutes from Houston made my parents think it was a good idea to leave. I also suspect that they were right. Especially since The Weather Channel predicted it heading right through College Station. So I'm considering it a sheer Miracle that it missed us. Anyway, to change the subject...Thank You! to those who have been voting for Donald. When he sang To Where You Are last Wednesday I got really "choked up". Anyway (again), everyone's efforts paid off! he made it into the top Five. I even got my mom to vote so that Really helped. BTW, the Finals are next Wedneday so please mark your calendars and vote. Have a Fabulous night! Roger

A Matter of Trust...

on September 7, 2008 - 9:51pm

Okay, I have to be the first to admit that I have serious trust issues. Which is why it really is a big deal when I say that I love Josh. Being from a military family and being disabled at the same time it was virtually impossible to get close to anyone growing up. I had an occasional "casual" friend from time to time but even they didn't last. I either moved or they did...To make matters worse, because I was "different" I grew up being excluded from nearly everything. The kids either ridiculed or ignored me altogether. It wasn't until I was 17 that I met a group of people in school (including Julie) that I started breaking out of my shell. However, it wasn't until I was 25 in college that I finally found out what "emotional intimacy" was about. Feeling safe enough with someone that you can Really confide in and that actually cares about what you think. I know that there have been people that have thought that I was emotionally distant or cold. That's what being "closed off" will do for you...So, how does this relate to Josh? Essentially the same way. I've always known Josh had a beautiful voice and that he was cute but that wasn't enough. Never mind that I wasn't into "classical" music. That was only part of it...The truth is that I was afraid to get emotionally involved because of my continuously getting hurt. I needed to make sure that he wasn't going to become a "casualty" of the industry. So you see, when I say that I love Josh and that I care more about his health and happiness than I do my own it is a big deal. There's also the fact that a few years ago I would have been too self-conscious to even write this journal so that alone tells me (and hopefully others) what a long way I've come. Anyway, I hope (any or all) of this makes sense. Have a great night and take care! Roger

I Am So Proud!

on September 3, 2008 - 9:19pm

Hey guys, Donald did me so proud tonight! Not only was he Fabulous but he won over the judges! And because of that I made the effort and voted for him ten times over both the phone and on-line. As an added bonus, he's also from San Antonio so that makes it all the more special for me. As for the other contestants...What was Flambeaux thinking? He was really good before but tonight he basically lost his mind! Anyway...what a letdown. But Dorae Saunders (aka Tina Turner) was Fabulous! There has to be a place for her in Vegas even if it's just at La Cage. And what about Kaitlyn? Wan't she just adorable? But I'm not sure if it's so wise to put a child that young (four-years old) in a Major competition. What do you think? Anyway...Have a Great night and take care! Roger

America's Got Talent...

on September 2, 2008 - 8:38pm

Okay guys, who watched America's Got Talent tonight (Tuesday)? I'm terrible with names so forgive me that...Anyway, I ended up voting for the baton twirler because he was really amazing! However, the other acts I enjoyed were the family that sang "Umbrella", Sarah Lenore (the blond female singer), the Elvis impersonator, and the ex-music teacher who sang "I am What I am". BTW (and most importantly), make sure you watch Wednesday so you can vote for Donald. You can vote ten times on the phone and on-line but only After the show. And the voting stays open for two hours. His competition includes the Tina Turner impersonator and Flambeaux (the fire performer) both of which I can see performing in Vegas so, if possible, make sure you vote. Those who know me best know that I will vote both on the phone and on-line because when I support someone I Really support them! LOL! Have a great night! Roger

Booyah!

on August 26, 2008 - 9:22pm

Has anyone been watching America's Got Talent? Donald Braiswell (who lost his voice for 11 years due to a car accident) sang You Raise Me Up a few weeks ago. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago he was voted out of the competition. However, because one of the acts who had been passed through had injured themselves Donald became a "wild card". A "wild card" is when the judges disagree and the general public gets to vote to bring someone back. Anyway, he got voted out a couple of weeks ago so I went online and voted eight times and sure enough, he's back in! You have to understand...growing up, I had virtually No self-esteem (or self-confidence) so any time I see that I've made a positive difference it makes me feel better about myself. I don't expect him to win but at least I helped bring him back into the competition. So, can I get a Booyah? lol. Have a great night! Roger
