Josh's picture on his blog

on January 26, 2009 - 10:17am

I have always thought he would make a good Lancelot in the musical "Camelot". Don't you? (That is what that picture reminded me of).

Josh's Recent Blog...

on January 22, 2009 - 10:00am

It was so wonderful to hear that Josh was able to go to Walter Reed and see some of the troops. And I can't agree more with Josh's blog.

I started sending care packages to the troops overseas last year and even though they aren't required to send a response they frequently do. As a matter of fact I am about to send out another one soon for Valentine's Day. I usually go to the web site www.anysoldier.com and you can find listings for all the service branches and what they can really use.

Another thing I thought I might do was to pick up some of the Valentine cards for the school kids and send them with a little note to some of the troops. Some of these men and women get very little mail and their morale officer will hand them out. They also enjoy getting things from kids.

If anyone is interested in sending a small care package you can go to the post office web site, www.usps.com, and they will send you a military care kit (there is a 1-800 phone number to call). The kit contains some small boxes and you are able to mail them for a flat rate (around $8.00)regardless of the weight. And the care kit is FREE. Took me a while to find out about this deal.

Like Josh said, regardless about how you feel about the war our military men and women need OUR SUPPORT!

I'll bet Josh wouldn't mind donations to the USO or care packages sent in his name to the troops as a birthday present for him.

Well, that's my "soapbox" for now..have a great day..and for all of you in the north it is expected to be near 80 here in Texas today.

EDIT: just a little addition, there is a custom form to fill out at the post office for overseas packages. When it asks for content I just put toiletries, books, prepackaged snacks, etc and estimate a value. And when I leave I pick up a customs form for the next box so I am ready when I get there.

Commander-in-Chief Ball

on January 21, 2009 - 10:02am

I was so proud of Josh for being asked to sing at the Commander-in-Chief Ball (formerly the Red, White and Blue Ball). Only caught him singing in the background on one news station after the president and first lady had been there, but I would recognize that voice anywhere.
President Obama said that this ball was one of the two most important balls for him, along with the Home States Ball.
Now if we could just convince the president and first lady to invite him to the white house for a "private" concert...wouldn't that be great!
This was the first time that I actually watched an inauguration all the way through..and I even understood what he was saying in the presidential address.
Hopefully he will talk so understandably during the state of the union address.
Well, I have had a migraine headache for 2 days now so I guess I had better go take the "big gun"medicine. Would have taken it yesterday but I didn't want to miss any of the inauguration..I tried to keep my mind off of te headache by crocheting beanies for CWL.

HERE IT IS ....

on January 20, 2009 - 6:32am

Here it is..inauguration day 2009. I was able to see Josh's Lincoln Memorial performance on youtube. What a wonderful job he did. I can only imagine how he felt looking out over the sea of 750,000 faces. I don't know if we will get any airtime of him performing at the Red, White and Blue Ball tonight..hopefully someone will youtube that as well.
Happy to hear that Josh will be holding a Live Chat for his fans. Hopefully, someone will explain how it works to me since I am "computer challenged" ( I can save a life but computers still scare me a little). Maybe they will record the chat as well and put it on this site and/or the boards so those who are unable to be there at that time can also see/hear it.
Loved his vlog, he actually hung up on someone while he was vlogging us ( hope they understood when he explained later), not everyone would probably understand the connection he has with the Grobanites.
We were busy this past weekend at the hospital, but there was one really good thing. A 39 year old man that we had as a patient for about 2 months (he almost died) came back to see us and show us how well he was doing. I never would have known who it was except I recognized his parents. They wanted to thank us for never giving up. Things like that make the frustrations of my job all worth while. Wish we would get to see more patients aftr they are better.
Hope you all have a wonderful inauguration day!!

JOSH IN WASHINGTON...

on January 15, 2009 - 7:05am

Hopefully all his appearances will be on the boards or youtube as I work on Sunday and then you never know what balls and other events the TV channels will show. I wonder if Sasha and Malia will get to meet Josh (lucky girls if they do).
I think it is wonderful that he is appearing at the military ball..I think we all need to remember our men and women in uniform that defend this country more. If anyone is interested in knowing how to send a military care kit to troops overseas just e-mail me at ruthlm@tx.rr.com and I'll tell you how.

EDIT: Forgot to mention how positively handsome most of the men look in their dress uniforms. Josh will fit in (as we all know how handsome he is) but he will be in a tux.
