Josh, I love the title of your new album

on September 5, 2010 - 11:45pm

“Illuminations”… it just says it all.

I wrote this poem two years ago to tell you that you brought hope and light into my life:

Dashed soul
Drown emotions
Fallen into darkness

All I can ask is… why
Even though there is no answer

Torn, abandoned heart
Believed never to mend
Trying to hide the pain
Of slowly dying away
From the inside outward

Wandering alone in the dark
Until… “Awake” and “Closer”
Light the way to bring
Inspirations to a heart astray

Your voice so entrancing
Your words enhancing
You do shine bright
Showing my soul the way out

A life rescued
Given hope and light
Compelled to let you know
You’ve brought my soul to life

Thank you very much Josh!

There is a healing quality that Josh holds; an alluring light emitting from his kind and gentle soul that shines through his exceptional talents. I am forever grateful to Josh for shining his light of compassion on my life showing me the way out; through writing, to regain hope, faith, and happiness. That is why I feel that his title choice for his new album is absolutely perfect… I have no doubt that his new album reflects his soul.

Captivating songs that hold such meaning
Entwined with the charm of his voice
His form
His entire being
They are spellbound

There is someone who truly cares
No… I am not alone
Calmness washed right through my soul
And my heart beats again

There is something...
Something enchanting within his songs
His voice
His gentle ways reached out
Embracing my soul
I am spellbound

His spirit
The heart of his soul
Powerful yet calm
In his presence
Love flows

Touched my heart
His songs inspire
Through his strength
His courage
I feel alive

He is true
And he is kind
We are spellbound
Within his bind

The power of Josh

on August 6, 2010 - 2:11am

In lieu of writing a new story I would like to share an old one. I have written before that Josh, through his voice and music has greatly improved my life. From the first time that I watched the “Awake Live” DVD I felt comfort as if embraced by a dear friend; one who knew the pain that I had endured, the loss, and the life fading from my soul. He sang from his heart and had matured in a very short time. That is when I wrote my first poem as I saw Josh had “Become a Man”. I have been a fan of Josh since the Allie McBeal Show and his albums have all been spectacular, but as I watched and listened to his amazing Awake Live DVD I felt the messages in his songs. I gained strength to face past experiences and I was inspired to write about my past, people and feelings. Stories to painful to read were transformed into poems; one of them is, “Surrounded by my thoughts of you”; which is about a loss through death. I recently posted this poem on this site for the Mandela family for their tragic loss.

Point Lobos Marine Sanctuary…

on July 1, 2010 - 11:07pm

I leave the Carmel Mission and head for my second favorite place to visit; Point Lobos; Yosemite being the first, and I feel lucky today because there are few visitors. It is very unusual in the summer to be able to find parking or an area less populated. But today is the day and I stop at a little rocky beach with only a few people; a man taking professional photographs, two children playing in the rocks and a family taking group photos. It is a sunny day, warm with small patches of fog above and as they cross the path of the sunshine the air is instantly chilled until the sun is in full view and the air is warmed again. If it were not for the fog and the cool ocean breeze, it would be sweltering hot.

I love the sound of the waves crashing on the rocky shoreline; it is soothing. The tide is ebbed exposing tide pools; a cormorant is fishing in them. The wave’s surge in series with larger waves engulfing the rocks with whitewater then rushes onto the rocky beach. There is no sand and as the water withdraws back to the bay; it pulls with it the small stones that cover the beach, creating a calming sound.

San Carlos Borrome`o de Carmelo Mission

on July 1, 2010 - 12:45am

The Carmel Mission… Located at the west end of the Carmel Valley where the Carmel River meets the Pacific Ocean; this mission was the favorite of Father Junípero Serra and he lies buried under the altar in the church.

This mission has my particular interest because of the Castilian Spanish; my ancestors. There is a story passed down through my family of one of the statues that was rescued by my ancestors when the Mexican Army came to pilfer the ranchos and the mission. The statue was taken during the battle; wrapped and buried at one of the ranchos and later returned to the church to take its rightful place behind the alter. Bullet holes can still be seen in the body of the angel.

The grounds include beautiful flowering gardens and large fountains with benches under trees that offer a welcome feeling to the guests, a well kept cemetery; the resting place of several ancestors who earned a place there by their extensive work at the mission and the church, a museum filled with artifacts from early mission life, some identified with ancestral names.
