Christmas Wishes…

on December 2, 2010 - 7:35pm

Well Josh, I enjoyed your Ustream concert tonight. That was a real treat to see you perform again. I liked that you answered questions. I know exactly what you mean about the world as I wrote this simple little poem in December 2008. It is also from my book that I have sent to you. Leave it to you to show me another way to share my work. I wrote this poem for two reasons; one is obvious, the other is in remembrance of a great loss from my heart and soul. Perhaps you may have an opportunity to read my poem. I dedicated my book to you; but tonight I dedicate this poem to you for your own Christmas wish for peace.

Thanks for the great performance tonight!

Christmas should be happy times
For anyone to be
To make their wishes all come true

Happy Thanksgiving!

on November 28, 2010 - 10:29am

My Dear Josh,

Your “Bells of New York City” reminded me so much of how I feel about my beloved Yosemite that I could hear the valley calling out to me
pulling at me… and I had to go!
And I took with me a part of you…
in mind, spirit and iPod; loaded with all of your songs, old and new
while in your “Before We Begin” concert tee too
all Illuminating my way for a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday.

I have many thanks to give
and at the top of my list is you Josh
for making my world a brighter and happier place.

Cheers to you
as I do the things that I like to do
listening to you sing your
“Bells of New York City”
while watching the seasons changing too
in Yosemite Valley!

I hope your holiday was as wonderful as mine.
Thinking of you!
with love,
jan

“Illuminations” ...feeling the vibe

on November 20, 2010 - 11:38pm

This album, these songs are not the usual work that we are used to but they have tapped my emotions on many levels. Josh’s voice is striking and powerful when he sings the love song of “Voce Existe Em Mim”, soft and controlled in Galileo; while “Le cose che sei per me” and L'Ora Dell'Addio hold sorrow, they are also powerful. Josh toned the voice down again for “Hidden Away” and “Higher Window” as to rekindle love. “Straight to you” and “Love only knows” tell of living in fear with a forbidden love; and “They won’t go when I go” is haunting. “London Hymn” is a simple and beautiful prayer for eternal peace for restless souls.

“Before We Begin” … at the Granada Theater

on November 20, 2010 - 3:27pm

The Granada Theater is so grand
bronze Spanish Dancer statues
seem to great as you come in
sweeping staircases
scrolled wrought iron railings leading to the balconies
ceiling and stage facade painted with murals for all to view
warm rich colors of red
cooled by lights of vivid blue

Seated four rows from the stage
anticipation fills the air
the curtain opens
fans burst with excitement
and there he is
the man of the night
Josh Groban… is in sight

Lying on the couch
with his buddy Sweeney by his side
Josh awakens with surprise
Mouthing the words…“What the”…

Josh carries shy Sweeney to the front of the stage
Sweeney runs off into the wings
never to be seen again

Josh greets his audience and announces
he has no idea how the show will go

Feeling grateful…

on November 16, 2010 - 8:09pm

It is unbelievable that there are already judgmental remarks about Josh, his changes and his album. Well, the way I see it is that Josh felt a need to release secreted emotions to move ahead in life, and to do that he had to step back to face his past and present in order to embrace his future.

When asked what ‘Hidden Way’ meant he answered “The words are self explanatory”. He shares enough with the fans; we don’t need to know the intimate details of his life. He said that writing songs is his way of keeping a journal.
