Great Day

on May 31, 2010 - 6:40pm

It was a beautiful day again. Took my grandson to town to get a pair of sandals and shorts. After supper we all went to a place called the Dutch Mill, about 15 minutes from where I live. The water is about 6" deep in most places and the rapids are shallow. We walked around in the water on mostly flat rocks and caught about 100 crayfish. Never ate them before so we kept the big one my son caught. Had a great time.

Glee

on May 26, 2010 - 9:49pm

I have been watching Season 1 of Glee on the Internet. I love this show. The music and acting are phenominal. I am very happy the show is going into Season 3.

I am on vacation for the next few days and have so much to do I don't know what to do first.

It is late and I am going to bed.

I've Got the Music In Me......

on May 25, 2010 - 5:04pm

I watched Dancing with the Stars last night. The music was fun. The movie Footloose and the music has always been on the top of my list so I was really pumped.

The other day I had my headphones on listening to Josh's Awake cd. I cranked up the volume one notch and could feel the energy of the music and Josh's voice go through my back. I have only felt that energy with some of Yanni's music and some classical music. For those who have ever had that happen, you will probably agree it is better than sex.

I often wonder how many kids feel positive, soul grabbing energy from classical music.

Off to the beach. The Great Lakes, especially in Upper Michigan, does not become swimmable until the end of June. Last night it was so hot and humid I went to the beach. Lots of people and the water was pretty warm. It is probably going to be a very dry, hot summer. Yuck..........

Back to the beach I go!!!

Here I Go Again

on May 18, 2010 - 4:58pm

If a job opens up in one of our other offices, our newest agent is taking it. Closer to home. I can't take it. I really like him. He is funny, nice, great agent. I can't say more. I am going to sit down and cry, I swear! He is the second agent in one year to leave if he goes. I spend more time with these guys than their own families. It kills me when they leave. After 36 years wouldn't you think I would be used to it? I am not. At least five staff members have retired, I cried. Good thing I have kleenex.

I need to go outside now and get some fresh air.

ADHD & Sensory Processing Disorder are Full-Time Jobs

on May 17, 2010 - 7:49pm

About eight years ago I insisted that my doctor test me for ADHD. Not totally convinced I had some problems, he did it anyway. The results proved I was correct, Adult ADHD. He put me on medication and I have been doing very well.

When my son was three years old, I knew he had some problems. He could not tolerate police sirens, fire truck sirens and a lot of commotion. I knew there was a piece missing in his brain functioning puzzle. After six years of asking doctors to test him for learning disabilities and ADHD and hearing "I have no idea/not to my knowledge" from doctors, I was told my son had Sensory Integration Disorders. If he had ADHD it was most likely a secondary problem. Our pediatrician recommended I read a book by Mel Levine entitled "A Mind at a Time." It is not easy to read, but after years of reading psych reports, I struggled through. The book explained my son.

It is now two years later and I have been reading articles, books, magazines; subscribed to a few different web sites; psych journals, to the point where I do not think a rock has been left unturned.
