They won't go when I go

on November 15, 2010 - 7:14pm

BONUS TRACK!
This is where I get all silly giddy stupid.
"They Won't Go When I Go" is a perfect perfect choice.

Such a great song. I love both the Stevie Wonder and George Michael versions, and now the Groban version. Nice arrangement and great exercise of that lower range.

Excellent!
.
P.S. I've commented, all over various pages, on the other tracks on the record....just thought I'd throw in a remark about the bonus tracks since I just got them today!

She talks too much. She never. Shuts. Up.

on October 20, 2010 - 1:08pm

The "she" in question, is, unfortunately, ME.
That's right. I am apparently incapable of stopping myself from just inflicting endless rambling onto hapless innocent victims that are much more accustomed to my 'observe and contribute sparingly' style. Worse, I launched into what was a 'me me me' topic to a complete stranger. Nice first impression: me unlike me. I must be stopped. Immediately.

Nobody has said anything about my inability to JUST STOP TALKING, but I didn't really give them much chance. In the last two days, I've caught myself being ridiculously verbose THREE times!! And...in my head.....I can hear my conscience screaming at me, "SHUT UP. STOP TALKING. Have you gone MAD?"

I realize what has happened.

Heartwrenched

on October 11, 2010 - 9:31am

We're there.
I didn't realize we were there until I got an email this morning.
But, we're there and I knew it was coming. While I accept it, it's going to take a bit of time for me to process. I'm going to allow myself the indulgence of being sad just for a little while (and sad is not something I let in very often).

I've got another confession to make.....

on October 5, 2010 - 7:26pm

Dear Mr. Groban,
I want to hear you breathe.

Oh I love how totally creepy stalker-like that sounds. But I don't mean it in a creepy stalker way at all. (and I promise, I'm not a creepy stalker. I simply don't have the time for it.)

Today, I had my ipod on, shuffling through my assortment of music. "The Best of You" (the Foos) started. And that very second before the song starts, you can hear Dave Grohl take that breath......the breath that singers take the second before launching into a phrase. It's subtle. Without the headphones on, I can't even hear it. It never occurred to me before today, but I really like hearing it. I mean, sure, producers probably don't want that sound in there. But I do. It makes it real. It validates that there is a soul behind the sound.

Dicing tomatoes IS civilization

on October 4, 2010 - 3:37pm

I’ve had the movie “The Road” in its little red Netflix envelope, sitting by the t.v. for several weeks now. I did pick the movie, on purpose. I wanted to see how the story was rendered on film. I just couldn’t bring myself to watch it. We all know the story, right? Post-apocalyptic yarns rarely offer much but bleak depictions of desperate individuals clawing for survival and deciding to consume one another in the process. However, this story adds a little discomfort by displaying not just a man traversing the desolate landscape, but doing so with a young son in tow.
