tour almost over

on November 5, 2011 - 8:10pm

I joined in 2010, just as the long lull was ending. This website became such a beehive of activity during this tour -- as Josh suddenly became this frenzied dervish of energy sprinting about on several continents.

Now he's talking about recording again. Wondering if the lull will resume or if the momentum will continue.

Nervously awaiting Madison Square Garden. Hoping the acoustics will be better there than they were in Newark. At least I have better seat.

Listening to Voce again

on October 18, 2011 - 10:52pm

Just listening to "Voce Existe Em Mim" again -- and noticing again what a wonderfully innovative and unusual piece it is -- not like anything else I've ever heard.

Can't figure out why it hasn't taken the airwaves by storm.

Sometimes I feel like I'm a space alien, when something I love so much doesn't seem to appeal to very many people.

contemplating Josh's profile picture

on October 12, 2011 - 9:37pm

I used to be baffled by the fact that I could not recognize Josh from one picture to another. His latest vlog explained part of that to me, when he held up a sign and the text was reversed. The webcam must reverse his face also, so his twitter profile picture and his vlogs show us the mirror image of his face.

Since humans are so attuned to subtle facial differences, that reversal has a profound effect on recognizability.

I have a webcam picture of myself. I like it. I guess it looks more like what I am used to seeing in the mirror. When I look at that picture, it looks more like me to me than regular pictures of me. It feels more comfortable.

I suppose the same may be true for Josh.

FOJG members who died

on October 9, 2011 - 1:55pm

I have seen announcements of two members of this fan club who died this week. It would be nice if there were a memorial page here -- not just a thread that might disappear with time, but a page that would be permanent. It could have a list of members who died and a bit about them and people could keep adding to it.

RIP Steve Jobs

on October 5, 2011 - 8:24pm

Well, I'm pretty sure Josh has an iphone or an ipad or both, so I think this is relevant here. He did tweet about the death, anyway. Of course, I became a mac user this spring and am accessing this website using a mac.

Jobs was an interesting character. At one time, they kicked him out of Apple, because his personality was so awful, but then the company all but went bankrupt, so they found out that they needed the grumpster. It's so often that way, that the grumpy people are the ones who really produce what needs to be produced and the nice people are too busy pleasing everyone to get things done.
