I gotta agree

on December 21, 2011 - 2:28am

with Josh on this one. Higher selves and all, biology drives us and compels us to satisfy basic needs just like every single creature in the world. I suppose that is what people generally mean when they say we are all human. I liked the fact that Illuminations was somewhat more a reflection of the human side of Josh and the embrace of the imperfect. I also feel though that as a species we are ravenous for true inspiration, for a sense of knowing that there is meaning to it all, that we gravitate towards and gobble it up, only to feel the need for more.

just a thought

on December 19, 2011 - 12:21pm

I understand now the guarded cynical weary look in your eyes when dealing with a crowd descending upon you. It freezes me in my tracks everytime I see it. We're all capable of staying in our higher selves or falling into pits of resentment and negativity. But it's up to us to choose where to resonate on a daily basis. Just remember in every crowd of craziness, there just might be an unexpected moment of inspiration that warms your heart for a lifetime. I'm sure you've had those, and those magical moments will stay close to you always. **btw-- Just saw your latest tweet-- I guess you could apply this to not just a crowd but also to life in general.**

You must be kidding me

on December 14, 2011 - 7:18pm

Today as I made another quick two-minute trip to my deli-- this time for a pack of chicken from the freezer and coffee-- guess who's O Holy Night comes on, for the second day in a row. So either the radio is playing Josh's O Holy Night every other Christmas song, or the Universe is trying to tell me that coincidences mean something. What I have no clue. Only that whether I'm in Africa, Asia, or blocks away from home, I can expect something Josh to emerge from virtually out of nowhere at any given moment, timed with inexplicable precision to the minute to my entry....

Synchronicity III

on December 13, 2011 - 1:07pm

A theme is beginning to emerge from my posts-- coincidences, synchronicities, miracles, and/or all of the above, that arise because of Josh. Or, shall we say, Josh's music. I make a quick in-and-out dash to my neighborhood deli with only one thing on my mind-- gummy candy, only to hear seconds after I walk in the radio announcer saying, "and here's Josh Groban" with his rendition of "O Holy Night." And I think, yay for me, another Josh Groban moment perfectly timed to coincide with something that couldn't be more brief than a two minute run to the deli.

Josh you do O Holy Night very beautifully I'm surprised it's not on your Christmas CD. That and I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas!
Best line from the song: "Not a rhinoceros, nor a duck-billed platypus, but a hippopotamus!"

question

on December 10, 2011 - 8:05pm

Just wondering if you were specifically asked to wear your glasses on the show? It's a great look for you, but it hides your beautiful piercing brown eyes. Also I wear glasses/contact lenses myself and I find that at least stage/performance-wise it's easier for me to be more freely expressive/ connect with the audience without glasses. But you may very well experience the opposite effect. Just a thought.
