2009 in a Nutshell

It's been ages since I really posted anything out here. Guess I sort of lost interest for a while. A few things have happened since. At the end of June, I had surgery on my neck to remove two herniated disks. One in particular was pressing against my nerve and spinal cord, causing tingling and loss of strength in my left arm. The surgery was necessary to avoid permanent nerve damage. So now I have a metal plate and six screws holding two bone grafts (and my head) in place. It was a two-hour procedure, an overnight stay in the hospital, and only two weeks off work. The worst part was not being able to drive for 10 days!

Shortly after my surgery, my son left for Abilene, TX, to go stay with my ex-mother-in-law and work. I haven't seen him for four months now, which is the longest we've ever been apart and not seen each other. I miss him very much, but don't miss the stress of having him under my feet at home. He'll soon be 21 years old, and it's past time for him to be out on his own. Hopefully, his aunt and uncle will be able to set him straight and help him grow up.

Those are the big things that happened this year. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and then Christmas. Wow, has this year gone fast or what!!
