christmas is over, and the new year will soon make its debut. this week is always a recuperative period---all the holiday frenzy winds down, the xmas tree starts looking droopy and dry, and the airwaves are devoid of holiday commercials.....i swear, if i had heard that dang "holiday, oh holiday" jingle from Honda ONE MORE TIME, i was going to have to kill something!!! and i love the holidays----i wonder how a Scrooge-type felt about hearing it over and over and over.....

we had a good christmas....we traveled south to the niece's new home to celebrate with the husband's side of the family (as we have done for the past 35 years). after being deluged with rain in the days prior, it was nice to have sunshine and dry conditions to drive the long way and back. there was too much food, a lot of laughs, and the fun of seeing family and catching up. we had our gift exchange, and we play that you can steal gifts a couple of times. there are usually some funny things, but this year, there were only a couple of laughable presents....the big laugh came when another niece's big, strong boyfriend chose one "women's" Shake Weight, and someone stole it from him, and the poor guy chose yet another Shake Weight from the gift pile.....the niece's rather pompous father-in-law chose (and no one stole it from him) a HUGE remote control and one of those grabber things for reaching up or down. The guy was obviously unhappy with his gift, but his wife whispered, "i want that grabber!" we teased him that all he needed was a HoverRound now. He was not amused, but we were! it doesn't take much to amuse us sometimes, and watching someone fall from his high horse is always satisfying. yeah, yeah, it sounds petty, but everyone does it and you all know it!

so, no plans for new years.....never do make plans....not a big deal. now it's time to look forward to the new year and look forward to seeing josh, and trying to be a better person.
