My many apologies that my blog has gone unattended lately. Part...

My many apologies that my blog has gone unattended lately. Part of it has been my fling with Twitter and part of it is that I have spent day and night trying to get my voice to hit 5 octaves. Having discovered it is not possible, thanks to this gentleman, I will be blogging again shortly. Thank you.

hahaha this guy's hilarious.

hahaha this guy's hilarious. it's okay, everyone thinks they can do something when they really can't.

5 octaves - some way to get my blog cherry popped.

Last edits - I'll apologize now for the length. Very first blog reply, too much time on hand, and not much social life.
I've got a Pavarotti CD, I haven't heard for almost a year, playing in the living room. I watched the Susan Boyle story on TV guide station AGAIN (intentionally) last night. I finally jump on-line with my favorite singer's site to try the blog for the 2nd time, 1st since the holidays. I was this close()to figuring out a way, besides the contest route, to sing a duet w/JG the way Susan did with Elaine. Then I hear 5 octaves (5-O), and REALLY, I know you guys are tied up with JG's site just about full-time, if not nearly 24/7. I understand that some levity is expected and sometimes entertaining. HINT: next time you have an idea like 5-O, don't commit it to tape, just describe it to us in the blog. That is, of course, so long as the idea wasn't JG's in the first place. If that was the situation w/the 5-O INCIDENT, I can refer JG to my last therapist, , ,oops. My plate was so full that my last two therapists quit and took jobs in scholastic councelling.
What do you expect from a 55 yr-old who compares the talent of JG to the talent of Tiger Woods. I'm so happy to have been involved/ obsessed (at times) with both, though I'm a much more experienced singer. Giving me an understanding, on a very base level not knowing all the details, of how much work and sacrifice He might've experienced through the years.
I might sing a pretty good JG, we have almost exactly the same vibrato rate on phrase endings/long notes, I might have him with higher range, but he's got the nod on over-all control. Honestly, look at the whole picture and tell me what better vocal model could there be for me to grow with. He walked the walk, carried his own vocal cross, and did all those things to get him to where he is today. I've said it before, I've waited 25 years for Josh Groban. Joined a METAL band in '84, but the only two tapes I was listening to/working on, at the time, were Manilow and Pavarotti. In so many ways, Thanks Josh.
I better get outta here before I start bitchin' about not being able to afford to be a REAL fan. Personally, I've benefitted far too much so far following JG to worry about Sorry, some of us have lost most of what we had, and I've been w/o a job for almost 2 years. While my kids were growing up, I always told them that no-one could take away their music, maybe temporarily, but not from down deep (soul). Well that's what I must be livin' on, 'cause w/o what little music, I'm dabbling in - whether getting JG CDs from the Library/playing them on a DVD player, or writing down in lg. print (for a few specific reasons, and one Gr'daughter) the lyrics for songs like 'Oceano''Mi Mancherai' and 'Si Volvieras a Mi' I wouldn't have much life at all. Not fluent in any language, (maybe Eng) but with a li'prep, can make any language sound believable in song. When I enlisted in '79, my initial battery of tests prompted another special defensive language battery of tests (4 hrs). I was 1 of 2 soldiers to pass, out of 75 special participants who were selected because of their score on previous tests. In short, its easy for me to know how all the pieces fit together in most instances. Not word-4-word, but with adequate prep and a JG type of voice, too cool. I'm in linguistics heaven. You folks wouldn't need some sort of vocal stunt-double ($8/hr)all right, $13/ if you insist (hourly, not by stunt). After 55 years, ol' Gene, showing signs of street-smarts, yeah, right! or easy salary negotiations depending on location in U.S. Gosh you guys are easy to talk to ... tee hee- yeah...right!
