WOW. Where do I even begin?! First of all, I would like to apologize in advance for all the fangirling that you are going to read. Secondly, I would like to thank Sarah and the rest of the Josh Groban team for this amazing once in a lifetime opportunity. I’ve been having some pretty tough weeks before the concert, so the Road Reporter contest was something I honestly thought I would never win. I was so excited and nervous the night before that I barely got any sleep.

The day of the concert finally arrived and I was basically stalking the box office and asking about the passes every 5 minutes. I’m pretty sure the workers were getting tired of me haha! When I finally got my passes, I started panicking because the meet and greet people were supposed to meet over 15 minutes ago! I ran around the arena like a headless chicken, but thankfully the meet and greet didn’t start yet. In line, I met fellow FOJG member pkespradit, who also had the same privileges as I did since he won Road Reporter for the SD show. We started freaking out in line and everyone was just looking at us like we were crazy people. Darren explained the meet and greet rules and when he said, “no kissing,” he looked directly at me. I thought that was funny. He also told me to take pictures from my seat instead of the photo press area since my seats were closer.

My meet and greet with Josh was short but sweet. When it was finally my turn, we shook hands and did the usual greeting. I handed him a letter I wrote to him and told him that I hoped he would read it. He said he would and signed my Illuminations CD. I don't want to quote myself directly, but I told him something along the lines of how much his music has helped me through a lot of tough times. He was really nice about it and thanked me. We took our picture and I was physically shaking so badly while it was being taken. I am pretty sure he felt me shaking, but he was nice enough to not mention it HAHA. And that is it, the best few minutes of my life!

The concert itself was beyond amazing. I bought a floor seat at the last minute, and it ended up being so close to the second stage! That was a nice surprise. I missed the first half of ELEW’s performance, but he was as great as everyone said he would be. I loved that the show last night was all about the music. There were no fancy stage effects or things to distract us. I started tearing up while he was playing “War at Home,” and I’m pretty sure everyone else was feeling the same way. My other favorites were, “Wandering Kind,” “Play Me,” and “You Are Loved.” I also really enjoyed it when he was playing on the drums.

The Q&A session was hilarious. The first person asked what he would leave behind on the moon for others to find in the future. He said he would leave a high note in a jar and hopefully an old couple would find it and be completely surprised when they open it. The second person asked Josh if he could tell his best “Yo Mama” joke. He said he didn’t want to offend anyone’s mother, but he finally said, “Yo mama is so stupid, when she heard it was chilly outside, she went and got a bowl.” Oh Josh, always so funny. The third person asked to sing with him on stage. They sang a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday together.

Josh’s live performances are so hard to describe sometimes, because it’s the kind of concert where you just had to be there. The fact that he managed to make an arena show feel intimate really shows how much he cares about his fans. His singing was obviously flawless and I feel so blessed to have had such an amazing night. It was great meeting so many new Grobanite friends. I hope everyone who went had just as much fun as I did!
