My first concert experience has been long in the making.  I've been a member of FOJG for 5 years, but due to being located in Asia where I have done relief work for about 30 years, it never worked out for me to attend a concert.  So being able to actually meet Josh and get the full package was amazing!   At the M&G I told Josh it was my first concert and my profession, and it was touching to be called "a hero" by someone I personally admire so much, especially for his passion for those in need.

Their bus ride from Bergen, where they had the concert the night before, had been a winding experience, crossing mountains, fjords and valleys, and taken it's toll on everyone's stomachs.  But Josh and the band and crew gave the Oslo audience their all right from the start.  Josh had everyone in the palm of his hand, with his amazing voice, his wit, his enthusiasm and the odd joke and phrases in Norwegian.  Maybe the bumpy ride from Bergen influenced the first one, where he compared his 'love' for Danish lapskaus with his relationship to Norwegian 'lutefisk'.

What stood out to me the most about the concert was the constant energy that Josh had.  It never let up and he certainly gave each song, as well as his well engineered and fun interaction with the audience his all.  I kept waiting for a break, but it never came, he carried it all for the entire time.

One moment that touched all hearts was when Josh dedicated "To Where You Are" to those who lost their lives on July 22 in Oslo and Utoya, and to their families.

Another highlight was of course the questions and answers, and Guro's amazing voice and chance to sing a duet with Josh.   She definitely carried her own, and  got a fantastic audience response as well.

The grand finale of the concert was "You Raise Me Up" with audience participation, and again Josh didn't forget to mention the Norwegian origins of this song and what it meant to him.

But for the Grobanites the night didn't end with the final encore!  Off to the buses they went and the band and Darren took plenty of time to interact with all of us, lots of hugs, laughs and photos, in the rain.  It was fun to discover that Tariqh and I had been in the same place, same time 13 years ago - 'one night in Bangkok', when he played at one of the large hotels there.   The band members are all so sweet and accommodating, even after a very long day and with another bumpy night ride ahead of them to their next destination - Stockholm.
