Here is the Providence Official Road Reporter review from Josh's Straight To You Tour by jbarbosa!

JOSH IN CONCERT -- those three words that make people run in panic for their computers on presale day, assembling boxes of tissues, beverages, and even snacks to keep energy levels flowing along with the ever-present sweat and tears – they seem so miniscule when trying to express the feeling that overtakes you, sitting there waiting, just as the music starts and the lights fade, and the energy of the thousand other fans around you explodes as Josh hits the stage. It never gets old, and it never disappoints.

That sense of anticipation, wonder, awe… you know you are in the presence of magic when you appreciate just how impossible it is for a performer to move you to the ends of the earth with the richness and depth of his music, keeping it fresh and new for every show, and yet make an audience consisting of thousands of fans feel like he is having a personal conversation with each and every one of them in the midst of all that.

I think back to those early days with the first concerts in tiny venues, and see how much Josh has grown into a confident performer, not just standing in front of an audience, but now grabbing it by the hand and taking it right along with him. The transitions in rhythms and pace throughout the show allowed us to move seamlessly from old favorites to new, with some easy banter in between the songs to keep the audience engaged. I know that others have posted the set list so I thought it was more important to comment on just how well orchestrated the musical flow was throughout the entire concert. I’m pretty sure that nobody got bored half way through.

It certainly is brave to encourage the fans to text questions without knowing what ‘nuts’ will be uncovered, but Josh is graced with a lightning sharp with that enables him not only to respond with respect, but with humor, and he somehow managed to weave an entire story out of a question that kept everyone laughing right along with him. It was also great to see him welcome Jordan to the stage who had asked Josh to accompany him in singing to Jordan’s mother. I love the humor in all squishing together for a group photo for Jordan’s girlfriend right in the middle of the arena! Time stopped forever for them in that moment, as it did for us, and it gives us a glimpse into just how much Josh actually enjoys doing what he does best.

It’s a gift, and I am so grateful to be on the receiving end… for the musical treasures that flow from Josh as he evolves along this musical journey, and for the inspiration that always compels us to do more than we thought possible, as we learn from his dedication and commitment every single day to making a difference in this world. This is a leader, a motivator, a thinker, an entertainer, a comedian, and definitely anything but a celebrity. It’s just Josh.

Thanks for the honor of allowing me to use my gift, to do what I enjoy best, by capturing some of those priceless moments through my lens, in hopes of spreading more of your magic to the world.

    Judy
