I want to start off my saying thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity! It was wonderful being able to meet other Josh Groban and other fans! I made some great friends and it’s a day I will never forget!
When I entered the contest for the Road Reporter for the Josh Groban Concert in Raleigh, North Carolina, I had no idea that I would actually win! As I am sure I told everyone, I never win anything! But hey, if you are gonna win, WIN BIG I say!! When I got my email confirming I won, I was floating on cloud nine for days. I knew I was going to meet Josh Groban but it didn’t feel real yet.

When Saturday got here I was so excited and nervous, I could hardly contain myself. When I met with the Meet & Greet group you could tell we were all feeling the same way. The anticipation of meeting Josh, who I have loved forever by the way, was killing me. We were finally led down a hallway and we were told that Josh would come from behind the curtain and we would each get a chance to have him sign something and take our picture with him. Finally, the angels starting singing and Josh came from behind the curtain. I had my first, “OH MY GOSH this is real” moment. I was third in line, and when it was my turn I managed to tell him my name, and he told me he liked my glasses, and he signed my Illuminations CD. When he asked me where to sign it, I told him, “Just not on your face!” He laughed and said he would see what he could do. We smiled and had our picture taken. It was over so fast, but it’s something that I will remember forever. While I was waiting in line I was informed, just as some of the other reporters, that my seats would be better for taking pictures than going to the press box because I would miss the first three songs. With this being my only Josh Groban concert this tour I didn’t want to miss a minute!

Josh’s opening act, ELEW, was absolutely amazing. I have never seen anyone play the way he did. Whatever he did when he would reach into that piano was wonderful. I really enjoyed the way he mixed the songs and made each one special, from Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” to “The Pink Panther” and everything in between it was a fantastic way to get the crowd ready for Josh. I also got to meet ELEW after his set and he was really nice and down to earth!

It was almost time for the BIG show. I was once again could not wait. The lights dimmed and the music started and there was Josh on a small stage located towards the back of the arena. It was so exciting and everyone was standing. He did a few songs there and then WALKED up to the main stage!! The crowd was so excited and cheering. He ran up on the stage and I was in awe. I was lucky enough to get FRONT ROW seats (thanks mom). So I got to see him up close and personal. Experiencing the concert from the front was amazing. One thing that I really loved about this concert was not only Josh’s interaction with the crowd but also his band. They got to come out on stage and move around, they were not just stuck in a chair at the back of the stage the whole time. That was amazing. Josh did a wonderful Q &A with the audience. One person asked what his rap name would be and if he would rap a little for us. His said his name would be J-Gro and he would either rap the song from the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” or I like big butts. Of course he chose I like big butts, to the approval of the crowd!! It was so funny! He also was asked if he was in the circus what would his talent be, because the lady who asked could lick her elbow. He then escorted her to the back stage where they did the Juggle Lick, she licked her elbow while Josh juggled! Too funny!! Josh really put himself out there with the crowd, traveling one time into the audience to bring people on stage with him. He found a lovely couple who had been married for 31 years, a sweet little girl named Sarah, and a “single lady”. He took them on stage to sit on inflatable couches and enjoy wine or milk while Josh sang two songs, “Broken Vow” and “Per te”. Not only was Josh’s voice amazing but his humor and personality really shined during his concert. Honestly the worst part was the end. I wasn’t ready for that. I hope to see Josh again soon!
