So I have to be straight with you guys, this is a completely biased review. Josh could have come out on stage and not even sang a note, and I would still think it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to! That being said, WHAT AN AMAZING NIGHT!

I was very lucky to start the evening out with the M&G! There I was able to meet some of the other FOJGers and of course, Josh! It was great to share this experience with other fans and meet some new amazing people! Since I found out I was chosen to be the road reporter, I had been trying to figure out what exactly I should say to Josh. I mean what does one say to a man that has meant some much to me for so many years? In the end however I think I blurted out something about liking Groban’s Garden and oreos and carrots. Yeah definitely not my finest moment, but at least I did not pass out in excitement which is what I thought would happen! As we were leaving the M&G I got to talk to and take a picture with the other M&G winners from the website! Always great to meet other grobies!

After that came the opener, Elew! I cannot praise him enough! The self -proclaimed “rockjazz pianist” played covers and medleys of both classic and modern songs. These included Mr. Brightside by the Killers, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and my personal favorite a medley that some how seamlessly transitioned Smells Like Teen Spirit into A Few of My Favorite Things. Impressive, right?

Now to the main event! My time in the press box was supposed to be during songs 4,5 and 6. However after hearing I would have to miss the first three numbers, I asked Josh’s body guard if it was even worth it to go, especially with my tiny little point shoot camera. He told me that I would most likely get better pictures from my seat so I ended up forgoing my press pass in order to experience the whole concert. I’m glad I did as he opened with some of my favorite songs! He surprised everyone by showing up on the smaller second stage and began with Changing Colors and then launched into February Song, and You Are Loved before moving to the main stage. After that came a great mixture of old and new songs, which I was pleasantly surprised to hear! Though I love Illuminations, I was worried we wouldn’t get to hear much from the older albums. That was definitely not the case! Picking a favorite would be like picking a favorite child, they were all so amazing, but some of my personal highlights were Weeping, Broken Vow, and Voce Existe Em Mim. Higher Window and War at Home were also fantastic!

As was previously said, the concert was full of crowd interaction! Before the show, people were supposed text in questions and Josh picked 3 to answer. We found out what Josh would take in case he had an hour to escape from zombies…apparently Sweeney would take up too much room!!! Another lady asked “What would it take to sing a duet with you?” The question seemed to be enough and the two did a great rendition of The Prayer! Josh also pulled people onto the stage! He offered them wine or milk and sang them Broken Vow. The night ended with Josh doing a cover of Neil Diamond’s Play Me and sing-a-long of You Raise Me Up!

I want to thank Josh, Sarah and the entire team for giving me this amazing opportunity. I can’t thank you guys enough! I also want to thank all the wonderful people I met, especially the two girls from Oklahoma, for adding to the experience! I had the time of my life, and this is something I will never forget!
