My Hallmark Drama

Being a polite person is not easy…I drove through two hours of perilous traffic after work last night (it was pouring rain, tons of accidents, typical Jax) to get to the Hallmark store next to my friend’s house before our dinner night, just about knock myself out with my umbrella trying to get in the store, and then have to deal with less than satisfactory service. I walk in, shake off the rain, and hear them playing the new CD over the speakers and think, “Awesome! It’s been so long since I’ve heard his voice in a store.” I’m feeling pretty positive at this point and start picking out my 99 cent cards. There were only two employees in the store and one was unpacking boxes next to me and putting stuff on a shelf. She starts empting boxes at the top of her latter, throws them to the floor, and keeps smacking me with them. Never utters one word to me. Slightly annoyed, I grab my cards, head to the counter and grab my CD. The young clerk finally starts ringing me up as the “latter lady” comes up to assist (apparently it was a difficult task and required two brains) and picks up my CD.

Latter Lady: “God I’ve had to hear this all day. Can’t they pick something in English?”
Young Clerk: “Yeah I totally don’t get it. He is cute on the cover though, I’ll give him that.”

Needless to say my blood was boiling and I wanted to make a scene, but I just bit my tongue, didn’t say a word the entire transaction, and left. I don’t understand how people can be so rude and be so clueless about it. I’m glad now that I stopped my big mouth and didn’t bring myself down to their level. At least the new songs are awesome and worth the annoyance to purchase them!
