How can it be this hard to buy a book?

So, I went to two bookstores today to buy a copy of "Nineteen eighty-four" for the class I'm taking in the fall. According to the list of books I saw, I'm supposed to get the one published by Penguin USA that costs $7.95. Well, I couldn't find it. Both stores, however, had copies for $15.95 that are published by a branch of Penguin. Yeah. I think I'll just go all out and splurge on the $15.95 copy. I can't imagine that there is a big difference. Right?
