....this 3 year old little boy came to our office with his mom. He had an injured left eye. He was climbing up the stairs at his house carrying a plastic cellphone. He tripped and fell and the antenna from the phone penetrated his eye.

He's had numerous surgeries to try to save his eye. But today Dr. McDaniel told his mother they would have to do an enucleation. This means they would have to remove the eye itself so the child wouldn't have anymore pain.

His mother fell apart and sobbed. I had to just go and find a corner somewhere to compose myself because I wanted to sob too.

So far on this new job I've seen many eye traumas, mainly teenage boys. This one took the wind out of my sails for the day.

This particular doc I work for is a glaucoma specialist, so, this is what we see. Lots of trauma.

It's the kids I can't handle seeing suffer. Why? Why the kids. This is one question in the Q&A session I'm going to have with God someday.
