Early Christmas

It feels like Christmas came early this year. December 25 can come and go without notice after what happened today.
The first present came this morning. I took the day off from work to go to the sample sale at Saks. They must've just unlocked the doors when I showed up. I tried on two dresses at first - beautiful, but no dice. Then I went back out, and there it was. The beautiful dress I tried on the Friday before last. Only this time, it was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. The way everything has fallen into place with this dress, it wouldn't do NOT to buy it.
My fiance took the day off work too, but he wasn't allowed to come to the store with me. We met up after and went out for lunch. After a bit of browsing in other stores, I finally suggested that we go to Rockefeller Center to get a good spot. It was about 2:00 at the time, but I didn't care. I couldn't think of anything else to do.
When we got there, it was relatively sparsely populated. We were actually able to sit down in sight of the skating rink and tree. We both had books with us, but I could barely get past a paragraph at a time in mine. (Atonement - one of my favorite books. I cannot WAIT for the movie!) Too excited.
My concentration wasn't helped by the fact that the orchestra on the ice kept playing the instrumentals and the background vocals of "Little Drummer Boy." Just as my fiance said he'd had enough of this (they'd played it a few times by then), I heard another voice. THE voice! We rushed to the side of the skating rink.
There he was. I'd know that face and that hair from any distance. He was wearing a dark coat and a gray scarf. He stepped up to the mike and they did "Little Drummer Boy" with him this time. It was peppered with comments on the sound and what they needed to do to fix it. Then, with a cameraman on the ice, he did the song again.
The next song was "O Come All Ye Faithful." I was so wrong with these songs! I thought he was just going to do songs that he'd done by himself on Noel. But Andy was there for "Little Drummer Boy", and he could have carried "O Come All Ye Faithful" by himself on the album. They did that song in two takes.
Between takes, he talked and waved to us. Sometimes he talked in his normal voice - just to say merry Christmas - other times were in a Mr. Hanky voice. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, you don't watch South Park.) Even my Josh-indifferent fiance couldn't escape the spell: At one point, he thinks they made eye contact. He nodded, and Josh waved. He was in shock about that for the entire subway ride!
I feel like I could've flown back to Jersey tonight - just sprouted wings and flown from happiness. Earlier that afternoon, I was in Barnes & Noble and kept stopping to look at a cardboard display for Noel. About an hour later, I saw the real thing. I have seen Josh eight times as of now. EIGHT TIMES! This is so exciting!
