I don't believe this. I met with a potential DJ last night and bought some bridal magazines to read on the train and while I was waiting. In Style Weddings had some good suggestions and answered some questions I had. Very good. Brides was another story. I only bought it to see what local vendors they suggested, but I started reading some of the articles too. One was about music and suggested lists of songs for different moments (processional, first dance, etc.) and different moods one would want to convey. Most of this stuff was pretty tame, pretty run-of-the-mill...and one made absolutely no sense to me. "I'll Cover You (Reprise)" from Rent, as a processional. As in the version that was sung in the FUNERAL scene! That's too sad for me to even listen to on my iPod; and correct me if I'm wrong, but a wedding is supposed to be a HAPPY day! That's why Grobanites choose wedding songs like "For Always", "When You Say You Love Me", "You Raise Me Up"...not "To Where You Are"! This makes me wonder if the person who wrote that article knew anything other than what she heard and if they even bothered to do any research. That last part puts everything in the magazine into question - with such shoddy research, how do I know the vendors are still in business or have the right phone numbers?
For the record, my processional is the theme from Love Actually, my favorite movie. And I think I'm going to go with this DJ - he was very nice.
