Montgomery's 'Fiddler' Production Sends Audiences Through the Roof

Thursday, April 10, 2008; GZ20

Town gossips, five daughters and a fiddler danced across the stage at Richard Montgomery High School last weekend in a wonderful performance of "Fiddler on the Roof," a show about changing traditions.

In this award-winning musical, Tevye, a Jewish man (Zach Sandberg), his wife, Golde (Lauren Kuzminsky)***THATS ME!!!!**** and their five daughters live in Anatevka, a village in Russia. All their traditions are shaken when a young "radical" named Perchik (Rob Marwanga) shows up, challenging their customs. When Tevye's daughters start changing with the times, he must adjust with them or leave them behind. The book is by Joseph Stein, and the music and lyrics are by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick.

The show included many talented performers, including Kuzminsky, who sang beautifully and did an excellent job supporting Sandberg's character. Sandberg also pulled off the very demanding role of Tevye.

Another highlight of the show was the scenery. It was well made and created a small-town feel. As a result of good sound, the performers' lines and lyrics were delivered clearly to the audience.

The cast and crew of Montgomery's "Fiddler on the Roof" displayed energy and enthusiasm in this action-filled performance.
