It's Monday. It's about to rain. It's also not a happy day for news.
I got in to work to the news that George Carlin has died. He had some good things to say that were more than seven words long. Regardless of what you thought of him, I think his influence on comedy can be seen. There's an episode of Penn & Teller: Bullshit! that takes on profanity and mentions him, so I think my fiance and I might watch that to honor him tonight.
So that's what I saw on the Internet. After I finished my work, I took a break to read my print paper. There's an article in this morning's Times about how CDs are fading and music stores are closing. One of them is the Virgin Megastore in Times Square. As in, the Virgin Megastore where I met Josh for the first time. I got up early and waited outside the store for hours, went in to hear Closer playing in all departments, and got my two CDs signed. In the years that followed, I'd get giddy every time I passed the spot where I watied, and could practically see Josh sitting behind that table every time I went back to that part of the store. And now it's closing?! NO!
