Another day in the life...

Wow- It's been a while since I've been here.

So much has happened, I don't know where to begin...

The weather here has been okay, despite a few brief 5-10 minute rain showers here and there. More big storms are predicted for the weekend though.
------------------------------
I think I mentioned I've been helping people in West Allis, Menomonee Falls, and Hartford (all cities in WI) with flood cleanup. Well, things are slowly progressing. The basements of the homes I've been working on are finally emptied out -- Now, it's just a matter of deep cleaning w/ strong cleaning products (bleach is a popular item along with a few others).

When I set out to do this, I did this strictly on a volunteer basis, expecting nothing in return. Because of my generosity, people have showed their appreciation by giving me gas cards (Hartford is an hour drive from Milwaukee) and gift cards - One being a Josh Groban gift card from my friend's mom (which I used today).
------------------------------
Talked to my dad today... He'll be starting his some type of new chemo and radiation treatments July 7th and will have both treatments for seven weeks. Despite the fact that he's starting to swallow more foods, he'll be on the feeding tube for at least 3 mo. because he's not eating enough to sustain a healthy weight.
-------------------------------
In other news, my new diet/exercise program is going great. So far, I've lost about 7 lbs. (I started the diet/exercise program Memorial Day weekend). I have not weighed in at my current weight since sometime between 2003-2004 (before my severe knee injury).

What's amazing is that as I progress with this program, I'm learning a lot about myself... What motivates me, who I am as a person, etc. I'm slowly re-learning the value of a home-cooked meal, how to eat healthy, etc.

This program has challenged me to set goals, stick with them, and be the best I can possibly be. Sure I have a lot going against me and there have been set backs... But, I believe in myself and know that the hard work will pay off in the end.

Goodnight, everyone.
