I heard this song a couple of days ago, and I remembered that I recited this fraction of it at an elementary school festival. I can't help it, I just felt nostalgic...I didn't translate it because I think that it kind of loses the poetic sense, but if you would like to read it that way, I recommend you to run the text at Yahoo! Babel Fish or other online translator (I personally prefer babel fish, because it's more acurate than others like windows live translator).

"Del color de la tierra yo he nacido, por herencia mi idioma es castellano. Los del norte dicen que soy latino, no me quieren decir americano.
Soy el gaucho al galope por las pampas; soy charrua, soy jíbaro, otomano.
Soy chapín, esquimal, príncipe maya, soy huajiro y soy un charro mexicano.
Si el que nace en Europa es europeo, y el que nace en Africa es africano, yo he nacido en América y no veo por qué no he de ser americano.
