Deck the Halls...

Went shopping today at KMart and Walmart to pick up a few items and was shocked to see the Trim-A-Tree (Christmas displays) set up in both stores. Shelves were also fully stocked with Christmas items along with holiday CD's. It's not even Halloween yet!!!

I can understand craft stores having items pertaining to Christmas for those who make craft items as gifts because crafters need time to make items.

It's like in the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special where Charlie Brown is checking the mailbox & Sally asks if he's expecting a Turkey card. When Charlie Brown comments on how depressed the holidays make him, she continues on to say that when she went shopping she was surprised to see stores selling Christmas items already (Good grief!).

Back in the 1970's, most of us found this amusing because back then, stores waited until at least Thanksgiving to sell Christmas items. Santa arrived in December.

Now, it's just plain ridiculous. The Christmas season seems to start earlier and earlier every year. Pretty soon, stores will start selling Christmas items around Easter time (just you wait).

What's the rush anyways? I mean, most everyone waits to purchase items until the big sales which aren't until "Black Friday" (day after Thanksgiving).
