Weather in the northeast

Our power came back on mid-day Saturday. Our basement ended up with almost a foot of water in it because the sump pump couldn't run. All of my appliances survived except my washing machine. We had a nice funeral for it on Tuesday, when the new washer arrived.

My meat pie filling survived. For those who are wondering, my family is of French-Canandian descent and it's pretty traditional to have meat pies on Christmas Eve. (Don't worry, it's not like "Sweeney Todd.")

It was a very bad storm. Some areas of the state have been without power for a week. Schools are closed until January 5th. The President declared a state of emergency here. I would've preferred snow over ice. (I can't believe I said that after last winter!)

But, that said, I love living in this part of the country!

I hope everyone is well! I'm looking forward to Christmas and my "almost famous" meat pies!
