Through the eyes of love

well, another visit to the hospital. His breathing has become a little more labored and the end gets closer. We have read a book on the dying process and grandpa has gone through many of the steps.
tonight my husband insisted he go with me. Esther was there so that was a good thing. Nic and her talked while I sat by grandpa and held his hand like always. I talked to him a little then stroked his head. When I gave him a little kiss he tried hard to open his eyes and he gave me the best smile he possibly could. It is hard to watch, but in the same breath it is peaceful. I don't want to let go, but I am ready to. All has been verbalized so he has the ok to let go when he feels it is time.
On a better note, my neighbor ran the Boston Marathon today. he did it in 3:11:42 and with one arm. I am proud of him and am ready for him to come home now to tend to his babies. They are great dogs, but I feel so bad that they are stuck inside so much. I told him last night that they really should be kenneled when he's gone this long so they get the exercise and attention they deserve. I see tonight his brother was there and walked them. Maybe Chris called him. Who knows. Well I am going to go and let them out so I can get some sleep. Wonder what they chewed up today.
