Awake tour
Awake tour
I have a sister who has Down Syndrome. She is a rabid Elvis fan and in the '70s I kept telling myself that the next time he was on tour I would take her. Well, that never happened and I have always kicked myself for procrastinating and denying her that thrill. She is more like a daughter to me than a sister and I would move mountains to make her happy.
She is now a rabid Josh Groban fan and for the Awake tour I promised myself that I would not make that same mistake again. Despite desperate attempts when the early ticket sales happened, the system refused to recognize my membership. I was totally freaked and my son and DIL both were frantically trying to get into the system and help me. My DIL finally got us tickets in the 12th row on the aisle and on the night of the concert, Trudy was beside herself with excitement.
I sat in the aisle seat, but when Josh sang "In Her Eyes" while walking thru the audience and it became apparent that he was going to pass by us, I put Trudy in the aisle seat and waited. But just as he approached us, the security people surrounded him and kept people away from him (i suppose they were trying to expedite his approach to the stage). There was a huge man with his arms outstretched between Josh and us and I thot, "Oh no you don't!!" ... and i grabbed Trudy and shoved her under his arm and she was able to touch Josh's hand.
Her little face still lights up like a Christmas tree when the story comes up and even if that big dude had hauled me out of the stadium because of my little stunt, i would do it again.
