Super Sunday

on September 19, 2010 - 6:42pm

My son had to hear the word "NO" and the morning did not start out well at all. But, I went to my parents late this afternoon. They have been sick all week with bad colds. I brought them cough drops, miniature candy bars and some of the treasures I have purchased recently - of course on clearance! I love clearance treasures. I brought my father Preen weed killer I got half off, a goofy metal bird with a big smile that was 75 percent off for mother's garden. I picked up a great book from the Historical Society about the boats that came into our harbor beginning in the late 1800's. The stories and pictures are awesome. I gave it to my parents and I am going to have to pick up a couple of others as gifts. One for me, of course.

There is a boating magazine coming out next week in the October issue an article about an older couple who are good friends of my parents. My father helped them draw up the specs for their yacht. My parents are mentioned in the article. So, I went to the book store and ordered a couple of issues. I am very excited about it.

Quiet Sunday

on September 19, 2010 - 4:20pm

Happy Sunday all!

We have liquid sunshine and some wind.Ooops now the sun is peeking out. Today is a good day for comfort food. I'm making chili, cornbread, and salad for dinner.
we're having my sil and bil over for dinner tonight. I'm sure we'll have a good time.

Dave is slowly getting used to the idea that he has diabetes. I've been trying to teach him how to cook for himself so if I'm not around then he can fix himself something. He would prefer that I fix his meals but I feel it's necessary for him to know how to cook for himself as well. I have charts of what he can and can't have which is a help to him. We're hoping he can go back to work next week. We'll see....

Not much to really say other than Josh's new song HIDDEN AWAY is a beautful and emotional song.

Have a Joshtastic day,

New plans!

on September 19, 2010 - 7:56am

I have begun a new diet to loose weight and get to a healthy size for my 5'3 frame! It is going to be hard to not cheat, but this time I have a support from the staff and fellow co-workers. I am determined to loose the weight and keep it off. They even did one of those computer generated pictures to show me what I can look like just loosing 20% of what I want to loose. What a motivation!!! Plus, I have a huge trip coming up in Feb. to help celebrate my 30th birthday and I want to look great for it!!!! It is a bit expensive (the diet) but I am willing to sacrifice to make it work this time!

Music speaks to the soul

on September 19, 2010 - 3:49am

Had a memeorial service today for my 19 year old son, Matthew, who did accidently this past Wednesday. Part of his memorial service today included teh playing of You Raise Me Up and To Where You Are. Needless to say there was not a dry eye in the chapel. It always amazes me how comforting music is and how easily it can speak to our hearts. Just hope Josh knows what his music means to so many of us and how comforting it is in times of such deep sorrow.
The irony is that my son Matthew would always tease me about playing Josh all the time in the truck and would antagonize me by turning down the volume. I could feel his presence during the playing of the songs and his voice whispering in my ear,"Oh mom..." Thanks so much Josh for pouring your heart and soul into all your music it means so much to people everywhere.
