Galileo fell in love as a Galilean boy,
And he wondered what in heaven who invented such a joy,
But the question got the better of his scientific mind
And to his blind and dying days
He looked up high and often sighed,
And sometimes cried

Who puts the rainbow in the sky?
Who lights the stars at night?
Who dreamt up someone so divine?
Someone like you made them mine

Love can make you ask some funny questions now and then
But just remember the alternatives for I remember when
I was lonely and unhappy
And my lips were cold as ice
But you kissed me, and good heavens,
Now I’m here in paradise
So if ever I’m not kissing you or looking in your eyes
I won’t be blind, and I won’t cry
I’ll look up high and gladly sigh
And thank the guy

Who puts the rainbow in the sky?
Who lights the stars at night?
Who dreamt up someone so divine?
Someone like you made them mine

This one of the best songs of Josh Groban. I always listen to this song every time I work on my research paper.

My my what a beautiful song, and what a beautiful beautiful voice to really make the whole thing... beautiful! It is an Irish song too, something to be proud of, and proud I am! I first saw this on you tube when Josh performed it on "The Late Late Show" and it was so so beautiful, just a gorgeous thing. Great interview with it also.

I love how, at the start of the song the question is "who puts the rainbows in the sky? Who lights the stars at night?", but by the end the answer to that question is being thanked. That is beautiful. Also it's great because it shows progression in the song, as if it lead somewhere. Great.

- The link for "Galileo" on "The Late Late Show" with interview at the end, very funny. And the lines "But You Kissed Me And Good Heavens..." Ooh, melts your heart.

I love you Josh! Thank you for this beautiful gift, it is a wonderful thing for us to be blessed with. You have such a beautiful gift from God, please never take it for granted, and know that you are making so many people happy, whisking us away into a beautiful world of loving fantasy. God Bless you. xxooxoxoo

I don't think there is anything I don't like about this new album. I believe that you are the best voice in the world today. That includes women. Not only do you choose the best songs to showcase your voice, your voice is very spiritual -- it moves me deeply. I think you could sing "99 Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" and I'd be impressed. Galileo is my favorite because he is one of my favorite people in history. He questioned everything, as do I. I recently lost my granddaughter and my son-in-law at the same time. It was hard for me to pray or sing. Josh, I thank God for putting you here for us. In this world, we need something of heaven to remind us that we are not alone. So, in that spot where you say "thank the guy," I say, "I will thank God who puts the rainbow in the sky." :)

This is my favorite song on the new Illuminations album. It is just beautiful. I love Josh's voice and emotion behind this song, it is like Magic! Just Amazing.

Given the relationship between the scientific world and the world as we see it, this song really makes a point. It tella a story, as do pretty much all of the songs on this record. I like!!!!

the song was written by Irish artist, Declan O'Rourke and on his album Since Kyrabram back in 2006!! In 2008, the legend that is Paul Weller, was asked by Rolling Stone magazine, what was the one song by any other artist he wished he had written for himself and he answered, Galileo by Declan O'Rourke!! Check out Declan sing it himself---AMAZING!!

Hermosa canción hermosa letra, le puse traducir al español en la barra de google, que bonita letra, Josh Groban eres único

The more I listen to it I like the most. I think I agree with my friend Nuria: it's one of the best songs of the album.

LOVE THIS SONG!!! But something is driving me nuts and I can't get a clear answer. To me when the line "Someone like you made them mine" I hear either "Someone like you HAD made them mine" or "Someone like you AND made them mine" . To me it makes more sense that it says either of those two words. But the lyrics on here obviously don't say that yet I swear I HEAR him singing either of those .I've listened to that bit over and over and over and I hear it! Does anyone else hear it?? Because on other sites the lyrics are different yet I know these above are supposed to be the official lyrics....soooo confused...but love the song anyways!

An excellent and well crafted song! Josh Groban sings beautifully and this is a joyful piece to listen to. ^_^

PS: I heard a statement on iTunes where a user commented that the use of the word "Galilean" was incorrect as (according to his thought process) a Galilean must be a person from Galilee. However, he assumed wrongly, as according to dictionary.com, a second definition of the word includes:

Gal·i·le·an
[gal-uh-ley-uhn, -lee-]
–adjective
of or pertaining to Galileo, his theories, or his discoveries.

What can I say??? Beautiful Song!!!!!!!!!. I love it!.

Beautiful song and beautifully sung. Your voice at the end of this song gives me goose bumps. Love it, I can't stop playing it.

sin duda una de las mejores canciones!!!

For me, the best song of "Illuminations". I love it.
