I have been missing everyone here so much. I finally got talk with Lorraine and she is into the same kind of music stuff I am - So glad we found that out too - I have been so encouraged to pursue my music aspirations since I joined here in FOJG and she has too - this is great to hear. I have been setting my stuff aside for so long and for so many years and still am because the kids, the family stuff, etc. - its time to dust off the guitar and get back to singing and playing again. I used to play all over Dallas in Weddings. I even wrote my own wedding song, which many people absolutely loved and had me sing at their own weddings - I can't even remember it now. I will need to dig it out of somewhere. I don't even know if I have a copy of it. Geez - so many moons ago - what roads life takes us down and the many curves we take along the way. Sometimes, I don't know if I have the courage to even attempt to play and sing one of my own songs again. I just don't have the same spunk and ego I used to have. You have to have ego to have the courage enough to even try and do it in the first place. But as the years go on - they wear at your ego or your self-esteem so to speak. It gets harder to carry on and push ahead with your God-given talents. Now I know how the term "Has-Been" came about. I completely understand where those old time stars are coming from. But at least now people are more willing to accept the older women in entertainment- T.V., Made for Cable Movies and some music entertainers have many strong older women still in the lead - Tina Turner, Cher, Oprah, Teri Hatcher and all those women on "Desparate Housewives" are all in their 40's or older. Susan Surrandon, Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and now even Julia Roberts is reaching that age bracket. I must say they all look damn good for their age too- just goes to show what money can do for you - no matter what age you are. But then too - they have all worked damn hard to succeed and have managed to keep that success level for a very long time even in a predominately "Man's World", they have managed to change that ideology all together. Amen to that Sistas.
