opposable thumbs are a good thing

on December 6, 2007 - 9:11am

So I'm finally back to work after severely spraining/straining my thumb at the store. How did I manage that one? It takes talent let me tell ya. We were taking out the garbage to the bins in the back and the lid got stuck. While un-sticking it, my co-worker shoved really hard while my hands were still on it, and as the lid went back, so did my thumb. OUCH! I never realized how difficult life is with limited use of a thumb. Hard to get shoes on, pick up stuff, write, type....let alone drive in crappy weather (which the midwest is getting in spades).
It springs to mind that perhaps I should stay away from household chores---after all, I did manage to break a toe vaccuming once....long story.
On a different note, my stepmother officially moved out during an ice storm, which I found a bit poetic and had to laugh a little about. What does one call a former step-mother? ex-step mom? the woman formally known as stepmom? hey you?

On a final note, I nearly killed myself on an escalator going to see August Rush last weekend. They should never hang giant Josh pictures in the window near a moving piece of machinery. Got a little lost in those larger than life brown eyes and nearly missed my step! Just call me accident prone I guess. The movie was ok. A little hokey, but I enjoyed Jonathan Rhys Meyers and was thrilled to see my new TV boyfriend Alex O'Loughlin in it. Sigh.

Thanksgiving Suprises

on November 26, 2007 - 12:07pm

Wow, so it's been an interesting last few days. My step-mother announced at the Thanksgiving dinner table that she was really leaving my dad (she's cried wolf about it for years) and that she was moving out saturday. I felt that she could have chosen a less festive time to impart that information. It really put a damper on dinner. My 7yr old niece was sobbing that everyone was leaving her and ran up to her room (she;d only let me in, so I am glad I was there for her). It was a disaster. I was never so grateful to get in the car and pop in Josh. Turned him up loud and let the music just wash over me.

I haven't really been in the mood to journal and then couldn't get in this weekend, so that sucked. But, on the good news front it's a week full of Josh on TV!! I got Celine tix for next year, my Stargate COmplete Series came in the mail....got to concentrate on the good and not the bad!

yeah happy friday

on November 16, 2007 - 10:02am

OMJ, so many things happened today and it's not even noon! I got tix to see Matchbox 20 in February!! I've been waiting for a long time to see them in concert. YEAH!! I figure since it doesn't look like the man is going to tour anytime soon in my area of the woods, I might as well go for it. I;m going to try and get tix for Celine on Monday, so we'll see how that goes.
I forgot what other things have happened today, isn't that sad? It'll come back round as soon as I log off of here, I know it. Not enough caffeine today I think.

Did anyone see Grey's last night? I had such a "that's me" moment when Bailey met up with her high school crush. I was (and still am) that girl that no one sees. I'm not the highly successful married chief resident who gets to talk to Patrick Dempsey (sigh) like Bailey, but I was the band geek who tutored the sports guys and never got asked to homecoming. I think that's why I am still a little relieved that I've never met Josh. I know everyone says how nice he is, but that teenager in me is terrifed that he'll look right through me just like everyone else and I have too much respect for him for that to happen.

Snap out of it girl! Time to get over yourself and think of the good things. Christmas, Noel, family, and concert tix. YEAH!

Josh elf strikes again

on November 15, 2007 - 1:59pm

I got to play the Josh elf again yesterday at work. I left copies of Closer & Noel on a co-workers desk. her son is overseas (not in the middle east tho) and she's having a rough 1st holiday season without him around. She loves Josh but has never bought any of the CD's for herself. I happened to have some extras, so I just plopped them down on her desk with a big red bow with a note saying that I hoped the music helped.

Today I received the loveliest note from her thanking me for the CD's. I hope she likes them and that they helps her just as much as they do me.
I hope I don't sound like I am patting myself on the back, I mean it's not liked I really did anything all that special. I just love spreading the Josh and knowing that another person's day has been brightened a little. It's all about paying it forward.
