Wedge Tail Eagle

on November 29, 2008 - 12:59pm

The eagle stands about two feet tall and when it extends it's wings it measures around 5 feet across. The last time he brought it in, he flew it across our wide dinner table and it's wing tips touched the faces of the two patients sitting on either side of the table. It was incredible. If anyone can tell me how to post I'll put in a couple of photos as he made it extend it's wings and it also cuddled in under his chin. Awesome

Wedge Tail Eagle

on November 28, 2008 - 12:36pm

We have a guy who brings in an enormous wedge tailed eagle into the Hospice where I work to show the patients. He brought it in tonight and one of our nurses, Nathan was absolutely buzzed about getting so close to one.

They used the eagle in "Beastmaster" a US TV show filmed here on the Gold Coast (Queensland Australia) and it's also used in the "Wolfblass" commercials.

The chap who owns it also takes it up to Brisbane and flies it around the CBD to scare away the Ibis ( a horrible, dirty, scavenging bird that raids the garbage bins.) Apparently it works a treat. If someone can tell me how, I'll post a couple of photos. It's really awesome. Stottie
