He finally noticed...

on February 25, 2009 - 6:58am

Well, my husband finally noticed all the yarn I have been collecting to make beanies for the Covered with Love group that is part of FOJG. He said" What are these hats for?"; my response "for cancer kids" and left it at that.

He would never understand the "Josh thing"; and he has no hobbies except sitting around the house on the computer. I don't know how he does it. On the computer all day at work and then even more at night. There is no way I could spend that much time on this thing.

My son is so excited, he gets to start working out again at football just no contact...so he can run plays and stuff.

We will be leaving for the school orchestra/band trip to Hawaii soon (about 2 weeks). My son wants to go and pick up some shorts today as he usually wears long jeans.

I have sent 4 military care packages to US Marines in Afghanistan to celebrate Josh's birthday...two more to go...they are packed, I just need to fill out the customs forms and get to the post office.

Well, it is supposed to be around 80 here today in North Texas. Would you believe I have my air conditioning on??

Everyone have a great day!!!

Did anyone else...

on February 23, 2009 - 2:23pm

Did anyone watch the Ugly Betty episode aired on Feb 19th?
I swear the young man she was paired with at her class looked a little like Josh...I did a double take as the first time I saw him it was out of the corner of my eye.
Does anyone know how I may be able to find out who it is..they go through the credits so quickly I'll never see it. I would love to see if there is a picture of this young man on the web and put it next to Josh and see if they really do look alike.

When my son came home from school he picked up the mail and I received a notice that I have to go sign for a parcel....wonder if that is the piece of jewelry I ordered from JTV as a Valentine's present to me. Will have to pick it up tomorrow and see.

Ordered my new wall oven today...hopefully it will be here soon as my son is getting tired of store bought cookies and is ready for Mom to bake some.

My son is doing fine from his concussion...already chomping at the bit to go back to football/rugby but not for several more weeks. We may have to see the neurologist first and the earliest appt. I could get was 3/31.

Everyone have a great evening...

Valentine from my son....

on February 15, 2009 - 8:07am

I got the most unusual gift from my 15 year old son...a phone call at work from my husband telling me that he had been knocked out at his rugby game and they thought he had a concussion.
Told my husband to bring him to the ER at the hospital where I work that he would need a CT scan. Of course, him being a teenager, he didn't see why he couldn't just go back to the game and play. His CT scan was fine but he did have a headache and retrograde amnesia.

Well needless to say I told my job I wouldn't be there on Sunday to work. And what did they say...
*are you sure you can't come to work?
*his CT scan was ok, so you can come to work..
*Karen (the head nurse) told me not to let anyone call out sick because she is not coming in to the hospital...

I was APPALLED and told them so. I am sorry they will be short staffed but I think my son's health is more important. I had to wake him up every 2 hours last night and do a neuro assessment, so you can imagine how much sleep I got. Several of my co-workers told me to stay home of course; it was the managers arguing. And I can assure you if it was their child they would not be working.

I fully expect a phone call from my head nurse this week. For all I know I will be written up or fired. I rarely call out sick, even if I should when I am sick and in 15 years this is the second time I have called out to care for him.

Well, my son cannot do contact sports..spring football and rugby..for at least 1 month and no weightlifting, or track and field for 10 days.
I will call his regular doc this week to update her and he may need to be seen by her before he can play rugby or football for medical clearance.

So that was my exciting Valentine Day.

And I am still ticked off at the response I got from the managers at the hospital so thanks for listening.

And yes he was diagnosed with a concussion.

Don't you think....

on February 13, 2009 - 10:57am

Don't know why this popped into my head but... don't you think Josh would make a wonderful Mr.Darcy if they ever did a musical version of Pride and Prejudice. I love both versions of that movie (the A&E, as well as the one with Kira Knightly)and watch them often.

To celebrate Josh and Chris's birthdays I have sent 4 care packages to a group of US Marines now serving their country in Afghanistan. I thought Josh would like it.

Hopefully this weekend at work will be less crazy then the last one. But at least this past weekend I didn't get called a "God damned bitch" by someone (the previous weekend I was)and then punched. Thankfully that doesn't happen often.

My oven has completely stopped working so I am still using my toaster oven. I have chosen one and will order it next week. Actually I don't miss it all that much.

My son is finally feeling better. Initially they thought he had a virus (not he flu though), but after several more days I took him to his regular doc and he had an URI. After a few days of antibiotics he feels much better.

Well, guess I had better go take care of some housework.

Take Care,
Ruth

Josh's blog....

on February 10, 2009 - 1:35pm

I was sorry that Josh didn't win the Grammy but his time will come. He is too good of a performer not to be nominated again.

Thank goodness Sweeney was found safe and unharmed. I'm sure his friends were devastated when he bolted out the door. I know I would be heart broken if one of my 2 dogs got lost. I wonder if Sweeney is microchipped?
Currently my small dog Max is acting CRAZY!! Wonder if that is related to the rainstorm moving in to our area.

Saw Josh on the Ellen Show. It was great!! and Ellen sings quite well. I saw Josh say he can't dance but he did a wonderful job..wonder if he would consider Dancing with the Stars? I would vote for him.

Josh, hang in there and remember YOU ARE LOVED by all your Grobanites and to us you are PRICELESS!!!
