Here is a question...

on June 2, 2008 - 2:00pm

Have you ever been in this situation? Things are going pretty good with the finances and you know that you could quit your job anytime because things will still be taken care of, but you hang in there out of the "depression-era" thinking.?

Well that is what I am feeling that right now. My dear hubby makes a good living for us to live with the bills paid and have some money left over to get the things we need for our family almost when they need it.

This past Christmas was awful.. we had to go to Toys for Tots just to get our kids something for Christmas because without warning company my husband was working for abruptly fired him and said that he wasn't doing his job. (In reality, he was questioning some of their work ethics and practices and they didn't like that.) All the leftover money we had and final paychecks went to make sure all the bills were paid and we had a roof over our heads. So, we were both out of work until I started this job the day after Christmas and he found his job and started 3 weeks after I started my job.
Now almost 6 months later... things have drastically changed and we are on an even keel. Now I am wrestling with the "what if" happens and I wasn't working when that happened. I honestly would feel like a failure and would let my family down.

In fact, I am wrestling with this decision with school starting next week. My hubby told me to take it a day at a time. I am trying.

And yes, we will be giving extra donation to Toys for Tots this year!

WELCOME TO JUNE!!!!

on June 1, 2008 - 9:22am

Chloe quote of the day- "Boys Stink and so do their feet!"

We got rained out again for archery. Which really sucks. Because that means our humidity level is really high and everything is soggy including potato chips, and who wants to eat soggy chips!?

UPDATE- we did get to go and shoot archery! Yeah! Today was my daughter's first time handling a bow on her own and I am so proud of her. She hit the target several times and for the fun shoot, she hit 3 balloons out of 12 tries! And this girl is only 5. WAHOOO!!! I am so proud of her today!

School starts next Monday and I am so excited! I finally got the profile picture all figured out, so now people can see what I look like! Eeeek!

Anywho... we are going to work on a house project today. The kid's rooms need ceiling fans, so my hubby and son are going to put them up. That way there, there is constant air flow and cut down on AC usage for the summer.

Everyone have a great week and a toast to summer! Huzzah!

I finally added my picture

on May 31, 2008 - 8:44am

Yes, I finally got around to adding my picture to my journal stuff. I think that it is one of my better ones.

Its funny, I think I look better now in my late 30's than I ever did in my early 20's.

Archery got rained out and that makes me sad. We are getting more rain and it is playing havoc with my head. Today is just another laundry and kick back weekend, because until we get some sunshine we can't get into the garage and clean it out.

The kids are upset that they can't go swimming because of the weather as well. Kansas is all wet!

Everyone have a great weekend!

IT'S FRIDAY!!!

on May 30, 2008 - 8:33am

Ok... I will say this Clay Aiken becoming a parent with a 50 year-old woman and didn't do it the old-fashioned way... wierd!

I am so excited! We are going to go and shoot some archery tomorrow! I can't wait because I haven't shot in so long, I feel like I have forgotten what to do.

Braden got his report card yesterday and I am proud of him. He mostly got all B's with 1 A, 1 D, and 1 F. The F was expected, and the D was raised from an F. So, I am actually pleased with this report card because he struggles so hard in school.

I am kinda excited about the charity auction for Josh's foundation. There is some really cool stuff there and I am just looking to purchase the "buy now" things because we are saving every penny for trips.

Speaking of trips I would love to take- Andrea Bocelli is performing in San Antonio in November. I can get 2 tickets for 150.00, but it is over 600 miles of driving and we will have just come back from California. RATS!!! I want to pay homage to Maestro!!! I am serious when I say that when I get to see Andrea perform, I will be sitting there in my chair with tears streaming down my face in pure joy because that man's voice is another gift from God.

Ok! I guess I need to actually work today. I don't know why... I am not that thrilled about my job anyway.

WOW! This year is almost 1/2 over.

on May 29, 2008 - 12:16pm

Man! I can't believe how fast things are going. We just registered Chloe for kindergarten and it just doesn't seem possible for her to be going to big kid school.

I have been at my job now for 5 months and it just seems like has blown by me.

Anyway, we won't be able to go back to Colorado to see my mom at the ranch because of the cost of gas... it is also effecting our trip to California as well. But that is 149 days away.

My life is blessed and stressed, but all is good!

Happy Birthday Nessa!
