despite what the calendar says, and what's going on in the rest of the country, where i live, summer has finally arrived.....after slogging along with June gloom enveloping the coastline for all of summer, yesterday and today, the heat is on, and to continue for a few more days.....94 earlier today, which is quite warm for along the's also very dry, and the wind is quite blustery, but it's so warm, it's feels electrically charged. out here in california, we call this "earthquake weather" as so many quakes have hit in the hot, dry days of october. i hope it doesn't happen, even though i find quakes to be exhilarating and exciting (don't chastise me---i'm talking about a little one, not one that is massively destructive and deadly).

i'm on my way to yosemite and the eastern sierra tomorrow. i hope to see some fall colors. when we went a few years ago, we had to contend with early snowfall, but i don't think that will be a problem this time. the upper pass of yosemite did get snow flurries last week, but nothing stuck on the ground and by now, the temps are so warm, it's not in the forecast.

happy fall!
