Here is the Uncasville Official Road Reporter review from Josh's Straight To You Tour by S29ep! Want to enter to win for a chance to be Josh's Official Road Reporter? Get all the contest details HERE.

I have been a fan of Josh Groban since his first album debuted and have attended at least seven of his live performances. Josh’s voice and music is truly an inspiration. His music can enhance your good mood ten-fold, or help turn around a crummy or stressful one almost instantly. I am an oncology nurse and can tell you nursing school would have been that much worse had it not been for Josh’s albums to keep me calm before nursing exams. Meeting Josh was truly an incredible experience and I am so grateful to have met the man who has been such an inspiration in my life.

I had entered this Road Reporter contest so long ago, that I had completely forgotten it, and when I received the email I thought it was a joke. Looking back on the FOJG website confirmed that it was indeed the real contest I had entered. Needless to say I was a little bit excited =)

The show was a Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. I love this venue because it has a smaller feel to it but it’s still a fairly large arena. The Meet & Greet was incredible. After figuring out exactly where we needed to get in line, my soon-to-be mother-in-law and I were able to go into a long hallway near the dressing rooms and wait for Josh to come out. His head of security gave his spiel on how the Meet & Greet would work and soon enough Josh was there. Josh was incredibly nice and signed my Illuminations CD and I was able to take a picture with him and he thanked us for coming to the show. Before I knew it, it was over.

ELEW on the piano opened the show that night and was amazing. I had never heard him play before and it was entertaining and beautiful from start to finish. He played a mix of new songs and older songs, with small ditties of popular songs that had the audience laughing. Favorites of mine included “Sweet Home Alabama” and Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.” This man is very talented and will have a wonderful career. Fans will love this opening act so I encourage you not to miss it.

The photography Press Pass part of this Road Reporter package was also incredible. A very helpful arena security woman assisted me in this and I was able to take pictures of Josh as he entered the arena and began the show at the smaller stage in the back. He performed three songs here to kick off the show, my favorite being “Awake” and then ran off in to an excited, packed crowd and up onto the main stage. The main stage set up has been my favorite of his tours yet. It allowed for fan interaction and the visual effects displayed throughout the show enhanced the music wonderfully. Josh performed a very welcomed and varied playlist of music from all his albums. The band was incredible as always.

I luckily was able to attend the “Before We Begin” tour in CT which I loved. This “Straight to You” tour was a perfect blend of that show and his usual tour shows. Josh was able to interact very well with the fans using the second stage in the back of the arena and walked throughout the floor to talk and meet with fans. He brought the Q&A section into this tour using texting prior to the show which was nice, and one lucky fan was able to sing a bit of “The Prayer” with Josh and she did a very nice job. Before singing “Broken Vow”, he brought up a married couple of 30 years and a pair of sisters, and out came two inflatable couches that Josh helped raise onto the stage for the fans to sit on during the performance while they enjoyed the wine he had offered them. This was an aspect I loved from his “Before We Begin” tour.

Josh is such an incredible live performer. His voice is so beautiful and he knows how to engage a crowd. His humor adds the perfect touch to his shows. As fans of Josh we all know and love his music. My favorites of this show were Alejate, Higher Window, War at Home, Machine, and a song by Neil Diamond during the encore called “Play Me.”

I feel reviews are nothing compared to actually experiencing what is being reviewed. I typically don’t take much stock in reviews and like to make my own opinions from my own experience. However I can tell you fans will definitely not be disappointed with this “Straight to You” tour. It is his best yet, and I cannot wait until he comes back to the area to see him again. Thank you so much for this opportunity FOJG! It is a night I will always remember!
